Our Story
BookSmarts was founded in 2014 by Michele Craig, an Ontario CPA, after she noticed a growing trend towards business owners managing their own basic bookkeeping. This trend was partially fueled by new software technology which made bookkeeping easier to manage, even for someone who had never managed books before. However, when business owners searched for a way to learn these new skills, their options were limited. They could learn about QuickBooks in general, but what they really needed was a way to learn both QuickBooks and bookkeeping but only the parts that applied to their business.
BookSmarts took on this challenge by offering customized training plans that were based on each business’s unique needs. Word spread quickly amongst accounting professionals about a firm started by a CPA who designed or troubleshooted bookkeeping systems and could help their clients to manage their day-to-day books accurately, efficiently and confidently.
Today, BookSmarts serves all of Ontario with live, virtual one-on-one training and has helped hundreds of businesses to manage their own books with confidence.
